It has been a decade since Ryan Atwood (Benjamin McKenzie) had his first entree into life in “The O.C.,” bringing fans of teen soap along for a look at life inside the mansions of Newport Beach. The Fox drama, which premiered on August 5, 2003, was filled with envelope-pushing sexual encounters, Juicy Couture jumpsuits, Death Cab for Cutie, trips to T.J. and much, much more.
We’ve seen the pilots of Fox’s new shows, and while they’re not for review (things often change drastically before the shows are set to premiere), we do want to share our first reactions to what’s coming in the fall and midseason. This quick guide is designed to get you excited for some new shows … and to warn you to curb your enthusiasm for others.
You’re going to want to watch “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”
OK, Candice was great. Like, really great. She even got a glitter shower from Mariah Carey because of course that’s something that happens when Mimi is a judge on “American Idol.”
HOWEVER, Candice’s stellar performance wasn’t the only thing that caught my attention last night. Yes, I’m talking about that weird voice/noise at the 1:10 mark. Did it say “LOVE YOU”? Is it just a noise? Fox hasn’t returned my request for comment, so I’m just going to keep obsessing about it.
