Is there any sibling rivalry between “The Secret Circle” and “The Vampire Diaries”? 
I have nothing but love for that show and that cast. I’m actually really good friends with Kat Graham, and coincidentally, she plays the witch on “Vampire Diaries.” [Laughs.] So we get a kick out of that.

There needs to be a crossover where you guys start your own coven.
[Laughs.] Right? That would be really cool to do, actually. But they have a ton of storylines, and we have a ton of storylines, so it might be a bit of a mess. We would need three hours just for the exposition.

You’re saying this as if I wouldn’t watch a three-hour “Vampire Diaries”/”Secret Circle” crossover episode. The Circle can take a summer road trip to Mystic Falls.
Maybe Adam’s grandfather, who we learned about in last episode, is in Mystic Falls. That would be pretty cool. And then we find out that Bonnie is part of it. Yeah, that would be cool.

Lots of people have been talking about a potential spin-off, which we’d all love to do. Claire [Holt], Joseph [Morgan] and I have talked about it. This family is so uniquely creepy, and the writers are slowly starting to humanize them and make them into truly compelling characters. I’ve always said that it would be neat to watch an R-rated version of this family, kind of like ‘The Sopranos.’ I see them as gangsters living in some sort of corporate vampire world, living in New York. There would be swearing and violence and all sorts of mischief. Forget ‘True Blood,’ this would be the best show ever.

Please make this happen.

Matt just gets too close to Elena, when she’s obviously supposed to be with a vampire.

Yeah, and also, the only way that you could have a love story line with Matt and have it be exciting is if it was with some other crazy vampire, and Matt just decides, “To hell with it. Let’s see what I’ve been missing.” He’s going to have a crazy wild time because at this point, on our show, two humans doing it missionary style is just not going to be exciting.
